U12 Weekly Update - Dec 07

Posted by Jack Evans at Dec 7, 2022 5:47PM PST

Hello U12!

Welcome to our first weekend of U12 Winter Programming and our Kickoff Camp! We will be free skiing this week with a goal of athletic ready position and team bonding! Groups will be mixed through the weekend to allow kids to meet one another before we settle into more consistent groupings. Please keep an eye on the Coach Updates WhatsApp channel in the unlikely case of any last-minute changes.

Our meeting location this week will be Roundhouse Lightboard. This is located on Whistler Mountain near by Roundhouse Restaurant. At the end of the day coaches will be skiing down with racers to finish and meet parents at the base of Whistler Mountain by Fitzsimmons Chairlift. In the morning kids should be dropped at the ski lift for 8:15 for loading lifts to ensure they are on time for our 9:00 meeting. If kids are late, please give me a call, we usually stay at the Roundhouse lightboard for 10-15minutes before setting off for the day to ensure we catch any latecomers.

Please see the schedule below the ‘things of note’ section for more specifics.

Things of note:
Dec 17 Coffee and Ski parent social- Our first U12 social will take place December 17th meeting upstairs at the Roundhouse for 9:00. Plan is to meet for coffee and for those keen to go for a couple of ski laps.
Flu Spread- It seems there is a highly infectious and severe flu spreading through the Sea to Sky corridor so please have your children stay home if they are displaying flu like symptoms.
Mark Your Gear- Please label your child’s ski gear prior to the weekend. Club jackets, skis, poles, packs and gloves are all very similar and can be mistakenly taken.
Whistle- Please ensure your child’s jacket has a whistle attached.
Pack Lunch- Please have you child come with pack lunch and water as it is often too busy to eat at the on-hill restaurants on the weekend and we may opt to use Garbo Race Hut.
Back Packs- All kids must bring a backpack with lunch, snacks, water bottle and some extra layers.
Tuning Clinic Date Moved- This will take place at the club cabin on December 20th form 15:30-16:30. Side Cut Tuning will be hosting this event and selling tuning gear at a discount.
