Hello WMSC Families,

Welcome to some warmer weather! In this email, please find a recap from the spring ski camps and a look ahead at our summer programming and events.

Over May and June, we were able to restart spring camps held on Blackcomb in May and the Whistler T-Bars in June. With the amount of snow still on the mountains, the T-bar camps were exceptional, minus one or two rainy days, but all together offered us world-class training right in our own backyard. I have to pinch myself every time I’m up there to remind me that it is real, our ability to set full length GS, slalom and free skiing room all just a gondola ride away. During the third and final June camp, we were lucky enough to have ski cross national team member and Olympic medalist, Britt Phalen, come up and train with the FIS team for two days of GS. Britt had just come back from being rained out in Mt. Hood and was stoked to get in her days here in Whistler. We were mutually lucky to get to ski with her and if we’re double lucky, we might get to bike with her at our dryland camps as well! A big thank you to Whistler Blackcomb and all our coaches for resurrecting these valuable camps, we look forward to letting them grow back from here in the years to come.

With the skis put away for now, we turn our attention to dryland… hold for applause . This July we are running two weeks of fitness camps for the U12, U14 and U16 programs. FIS will have their own programs and for some in preparation for the Sass Fee trip. We have some amazing coaches stepping in to run these camps and a couple special guest appearances throughout the weeks as well.

**On Friday, July 22nd at the end of Camp #2, we will host a BBQ of Champions, in celebrations of all the phenomenal performances out on the world stage by our WMSC alumni athletes. Stay tuned for more details and for now, save the date and get your sharpies ready.

Back to the dryland camps, the U16s will be run by WMSC alumni and NCAA athletes Ella Renzoni and Katie Fleckenstein with Jeremy Walkin, our new strength and conditioning support coach, taking lead for the gym sessions. For the U14s and U12s, we’re excited to have Britt Tiltson (Janyk), running it for a fun few days of adventure and training.

Of special note, there will be Rollerblade sessions in each of the U14 and U16 camps, please find yourself a pair and for athletes who for some reason are not able to get a set, you can run during these sessions.

Please find the dates and registration links below and the camp weekly plans are at the bottom of this email attached.

Camp #1 registration closes this Friday for U14 & U16 while the U12 registration closes on Sunday.

• U16/FIS Dryland camp #3, August 29th to September 2nd. Aka Kees and Claire hut camp. Registration details to come later in the month. There will be no U14/U12 camp during this period.

Last but certainly not least, we have another unique event being put on by Stef Fleckenstein for female U16 and FIS athletes. On July 17th at the ski club, Stef is putting on an engaging day of mentorship to explore and share learnings from a career that led her to the World Cup. Please click here for event register and see the event poster attached for more details. This event is open to all female U16 and FIS athletes from any club, so please share if you have friends from other clubs.

Thank you everyone for a great spring and looking forward to getting out hiking, biking and in the sun.
