U12 Lead Coach Announcement | Oct 14th 2026
Welcome Zoë
Dear WMSC families, athletes, and coaches,
I’m pleased to announce that Zoë Brooker is joining Whistler Mountain Ski Club as our U12 Lead Coach. She arrives in Whistler on Friday and starts with us next week.
Thank you all for your patience while we found the right person for this role. The U12 years are where the identity of a ski racer is built, so it was paramount we got the right person in this role.
Zoë brings 20 years of coaching and program leadership, with experience leading teams of 40+ coaches and 170+ athletes. She was most recently the Nancy Greene Program Manager at Nakiska Alpine Ski Association, and before that coached U12 and U14 there. She has also coached in Ontario, New Zealand and Australia. She is an Alpine Canada EL Course Facilitator, and holds ACA PL, CSIA Level 2, NCCP Facilitator and NCCP Evaluator certifications.
Zoë understands that process matters more than outcome, and that a strong foundation is what carries an athlete through the long arc of this sport. She builds that foundation through training that is challenging, creative and fun, and she teaches the “why” as well as the “how.” Zoë will also draw on her experience to help her staff avoid confusing relative age effect with athlete commitment.
Zoë will host a virtual kick-off call on Thursday, October 22 at 7pm to introduce her philosophy and where she wants to take the U12 program. In addition, she will be at the AGM and Fitness Testing on October 24th.
Welcome to the club, Zoë.
Thanks,
Jeff Lackie
