U14 Update | July 8th 2026

Hello U14 Team,

I hope everyone is doing well.
A weeks ago, we wrapped up our first U14 Summer Prep Camp, and it was a great success! We had a total of 15 athletes from the U14 and U16 programs training together, supported by three coaches through a variety of physical and educational activities.‍ ‍

Our second Summer Prep Camp is coming up soon, and I wanted to share the details with you.

A few days before the camp, registered athletes will receive the full schedule, along with a detailed list of what to bring each day.

U14 Pre-Season Camp | Sun Peaks
For those who may have missed my previous email, I wanted to share some additional information regarding our U14 Pre-Season Camp in Sun Peaks and clarify a few points that have come up.‍ ‍

This is a technical ski training camp, where athletes will focus on developing fundamental ski skills, with the added opportunity to begin early-season gate training in a structured environment.

‍ ‍November 6–13
November 6: Travel Day
November 7–13: On-snow training
November 13 (afternoon): Return to Whistler

Sun Peaks has significantly expanded its snow farming operation and will have three snow farming stockpiles available this summer, allowing for more reliable early-season training conditions.

Travel Options
Families can choose between two travel arrangements:
-Team Travel: Athletes travel and stay with the coaching staff as part of a fully organized team environment. This includes transportation, accommodation, meals, and all training-related logistics.

‍-Family Travel: Families may also choose to organize their own travel and accommodation. Athletes are still fully included in all training sessions and camp activities.

Estimated Camp Cost
The final budget is still being confirmed and will depend on total registration numbers.
As a reference, last year’s 8-day camp was approximately $1,500 per athlete, and we expect a similar range this season.

Inclusions (Team Travel):

·Transportation
·Accommodation
·Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
·Lift tickets
·Coaching ‍
·Lane space ‍
·Dryland sessions
·Ski tuning sessions
·Indoor educational sessions

This camp is an important opportunity for athletes to build independence and prepare for the U16 program. The group will follow a structured daily schedule including training, recovery, and educational sessions.

Dryland Sessions during July and August.
As many of you already know, Ryan Oughtred, our Strength & Conditioning Coach, will be leading and coordinating all dryland programming for all our WMSC athletes.

Weekly Schedule: U14 athletes.
We will be offering 3 training sessions per week:

  • ‍Tuesday & Thursday (5pm to 6:30pm): Gym sessions at the Club Cabin

Sunday (7:30am to 8:45am): Landfield Speed & Skills session at AVJ, Cheakamus Park.

Monthly Registration:
The cost is $160 per athlete per month.‍ ‍

Registration will be required monthly in order to help us track attendance and ensure proper planning of training groups. This also helps us maintain athlete commitment and organize sessions effectively throughout the summer.

‍For athletes who live outside of Whistler and are unable to attend these training sessions, please send me an email and I will forward to you the workout program so they can complete it independently.

Due to the young age of our athletes and their limited experience training in a gym environment, I strongly recommend that they complete these workouts under the supervision of a qualified adult with experience in strength and conditioning, such as a certified trainer or strength coach at their local gym. This will help ensure that exercises are performed safely and with proper technique.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
