Hello U10 Team,
Thank you to everyone who made the Parents’ Orientation call this week. As I said, I’m sure there will be questions arising from that meeting. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any! I’ve highlighted a few things below that I forgot/didn’t have time to mention. Please have a read and reach out if necessary!
Sasquatch NGSL DATE CORRECTION
Correction on the Sasquatch event date: SUNDAY FEBRUARY 21st IS THE CORRECT DATE!! Planning just the event day there, training in Whistler Saturday February 20th.
U10 Parent Rep
Each age group within the club has a parent representative, whose primary role is to assist in the organisation and running of U10 events off the hill, along with some other tasks. It’s not a particularly time consuming role but is incredibly helpful. If you would be interested in taking it on or have any questions, please reach out!
WMSC AGM and Fitness Testing - Saturday October 24th
The club’s AGM will take place at Whistler Secondary School, alongside fitness testing for the athletes. It would be great if you can attend, both for yourselves to be involved at the AGM and for the athletes to the part in the testing. U10s are being included in the fitness testing this season so that we can introduce them to being tested in a fun, encouraging environment, which is something that will continue as they move up the age groups. We are not looking for a minimum standard and we will not be comparing athletes to each other. Rather, this will provide a base line for future reference, and as they go up the age groups they will be able to see how they improve year-on-year and how they compare to national standards as outlined in the ACA Fitness Combine: Alpine Canada | Long-Term Athlete Development | ACA Fitness Combine
PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THE FITNESS TESTING IN YOUR CLUB ACTIVE ACCOUNT!
U10 Pre-Season Camp in Whistler - Dates TBD
As we did last season, we will be running a pre-season camp in Whistler on the opening weekend of the season. We are currently deciding whether it will be a 2- or 3-day camp. This is not a compulsory camp and should you wish to attend, a note will be sent out once sign up is available on Active.
Equipment List
Please find below a equipment list. I’m happy to field any specific questions relating to your athlete you may have:
Carving Skis: One pair slalom/multi event carving skis are sufficient.
All Mountain Skis: no wider than 90mm underfoot.
Boots: Four buckle front, entry race boot, with power strap! The most important piece of equipment to have correctly fitted. If you can, please get them fitted at a boot fitters.
Poles: Standard poles, length is important. Standard pole length test (How To Find The Right Size Ski Pole) should be the MAXIMUM LENGTH.

Gloves and/or Mittens (spare pair in backpack).
WMSC Uniform Jacket.
Extras for the backpack:

My 'office day' with the club will be a Thursday until the season starts, but I'll be checking emails every so often during the week, so if you do have any questions, please reach out.
Kind Regards,
Robbie Williams
