News and Announcements

Hello again all

I am sure that you have all been following the BC & Canadian government updates and how the situation with the coronavirus evolves.

Due to the recommendations and our responsibility to limit exposure we will be suspending programmes, therefore the 2019-2020 season has now officially ended. This is obviously an enormous anti-climax to the season, but we will endeavour to loop back and ensure that we all take away our learnings from the last months as and when we can.

I have unfortunately had to inform the day rate coaches that the season is over, I hope that you will all join in extending an enormous thank you and best wishes to them for all of their hard work and excellent care of the athletes this season.

We will have limited staff working at the clubhouse and until further notice we will be keeping the front door of the club locked. You can contact myself, Blanca or the Lead Coaches on cellphones or email should you need to.

We will monitor the situation and keep you updated with plans for the 2020-2021 pre-season with any spring, summer and fitness training that may become possible, and of course the winter season ahead.

We are all anxious to get going as soon as we get into the clear, and as much as it’s difficult to miss out on the world class training that we are missing now, we can all vow to make the most of every possible ski day and training session that presents itself in the future. For now let’s do all that we can do to help us all get out the other side of this difficult situation!

In the meantime I urge you all to stay active, stay positive, enjoy the sunshine, and most of all, stay healthy

Warmest regards

Mark Tilston

Our members, athletes and staff safety and health are our priority so we would like to limit their exposure. For the next weeks we will:

  • Cancel the uniform try-on sessions and do orders by email. The deadline remains on Thursday, March 26th. We will be emailing order forms, pictures of new uniforms and measuring charts along with the color options for a vote next week.
  • The office will keep operating from Thursday to Monday, 9-4 pm but we would ask if you have any questions to email or phone us.
  • We will maintain our website www.wmsc.info up to date with new COVID-19 updates and any changes to our operations.
  • WMSC Gym and studio are now closed

Thank you for your support as we work through these difficult times together.

Regards,

Whistler Mountain Ski Club Team

Hello again all

I know that you are all being bombarded with emails at the moment with COVID updates from all angles. So please excuse another email.

I met with the Lead Coaches this afternoon, and we are completely agreed that especially since it is the Spring Break and our athletes are all desperate to get on with their development, that we will endeavour to provide alternative programming for the scheduled days (Thu-Sun) this week and will review once we get an update on the status of the mountain on March 22nd.

We are still in the planning stages of working out what it will look like, however at this stage you can anticipate that we will have some form of outdoor training / activity available Thu-Sun.

I have received many suggestions on what we could do and as a group we are looking at solutions although as we all are trying to make the most of the situation, we must also do our part in limiting and slowing the spread of the Coronavirus, and the health of our community is our priority.

We hope to have it nailed down by tomorrow afternoon and the Lead Coaches will share plans at that point.

Best regards

Mark Tilston

Hello again all

As you have no doubt heard, the mountain has suspended all operations as of tomorrow, this will be reassessed on March 22nd.

Therefore we will cancel training for tomorrow and I will meet with the Lead Coaches now to look into alternative programming ideas which will be communicated to you as soon as possible.

Your sincerely

Mark Tilston
