News and Announcements
Hello U16 team,
This week’s main event was a success, despite some growing pains with a new format. All those who were able to volunteer put in a great effort to receive equipment, label, sort and establish a system that would help the community buy and sell gear. In short notice, we rallied to make the swap as seamless as possible, all under own roof. We missed the space of the big circus tent, but it refreshing to invite so many skier and snowboarders into the only (alpine) ski club in Whistler. The Swap has been run by the club for as long as I can remember, certainly over 30 years, so it’s an important event for our club and the community to continue the tradition. Turns out, that even with the short notice of having to change locations, a lack of space and few volunteers we were just able to make it work. We also sold a lot of equipment! Next year will be even better and we will have more time to prepare and provide ourselves with more room to work with. I’m hoping to see more parents out to help carry on this winter tradition.
Sun Peaks and Panorama
Plans have been established for Sun Peaks and Panorama Pre-Season camps. As previously mentioned, Sun Peaks is the warm-up to skiing camp, and Panorama is where we can get in volumes gate training on hard snow.
Please note, the departure date for Panorama returning to Vancouver/Whistler has changed to arrive on the 8th (Sunday) instead of the 9th.
Registration is now live and can be accessed through the trip sheets which are uploaded to the U16 Program page under ‘Documents’
Also note that the maximum number of racers that can attend Panorama is 20. We do not have the accommodation or transportation room available for anymore. There is no maximum for Sun Peaks.
Registration: Sun Peaks Only: https://campscui.active.com/orgs/WhistlerMountainSkiClub#/selectSessions/2641503/filter/session=44614709
I’ve been working on updating the TeamPages database, especially for the racers. However, after sending out requests to join the program/app I’m still seeing a third of the team not replying. We need to have racers connected to their accounts in order to see training plans but most importantly to mark their participation in advance of training or race. This greatly helps with planning, budgeting and staffing. Please ask your racer to check their emails from the club, myself or TeamPages and follow the links provided.
Coaches are away this week, so there will be no after/before school dryland. Sports! Saturday is still on as is the Saturday morning bike ride. Check TeamPages for more information.

U16 Lead Coach
What a tremendous weekend for WMSC and our annual Ski Swap! This year brought a new look, new location (the club cabin) and new opportunities for which we can honestly say was a success on all fronts. It truly is amazing to see the membership, athletes, coaches and the community rally around our various initiatives throughout the season, the swap was no exception. We can’t thank those who assisted enough, without your generous donation of time and effort, this significant fundraising event does not happen. Thank you all so very much!

A message from our Marketing and Sponsorship manager, Bob Armstrong
We hope everyone is as excited, as we all are, for the start of yet another tremendous race season at the Club, our 51st!!
Don’t forget the Ski Swap on Oct 12th at the Club Cabin. It is a great environment to buy and sell your used gear while providing a much-appreciated small contribution to our overall fundraising goals! We will be hosting a bbq with provisions supplied by our partner, Creekside Market.
I would also like to inform you that we have a few valuable sponsorship opportunities still available for the coming season. Your company/brand will visually engage with a client base not only in Whistler but throughout the entire Sea-to-Sky and the province. Our objective for these sponsorships is to raise incremental funds to support enhancements to our programming.
If you have any questions or wish more detailed information, please give me a call. Our deadline for new partners is Nov 15th.
Last but certainly not least, we have corporate sponsorships still available for Whistler Cup 2020!

Officials Level 1 and 2 Courses
Each season, we host ski races for all levels of athletes. To host a successful ski race, we require many parent volunteers, on and off the hill, both before and during the race.
The officials courses will teach you how ski races are organized, the different volunteer roles and how you can get involved and be successful.
Adding Team Pages events to your calendar
