Welcome back to our regular scheduled Program Updating. Below you will find information about Upcoming Important Dates, Whistler FIS Series Logistics, Calendar Update, Panorama March Trips Preview. Let’s get to it:
Upcoming Important Dates
Feb. 22 – HeadStart Pro, Part 2 – 3:00pm at the Club Cabin. Even if you missed the first session it’s worth coming out this afternoon. Mental toughness and focus are 90% of the game when it comes to performance and consistency.
Feb. 23 – Race Sim Cup SL/Training – We’ll have prizes, we’ll have a great surface, and it’ll be a solid opportunity to get a little more practice at Race Day routine after HeadStart Pro.
Feb. 25 – Pre-Race Grouse Night Training – 4:00pm meet at the Grouse Tram. Quick session to get moving and acquainted with the Race Hill for the following day’s race.
Whistler FIS Races – A Trip…but at Home
Keeping consistent with our normal “Race Feel” while at home can be difficult compared to the unavoidable closed and focused environment of a hotel on the road. We’ve noticed that there is a marked difference in how we carry out our days and want to get that same Race Intensity here as we’ve experienced at our away trips this year. Here’s where we’re at for a daily schedule so far:
- Team Warm-Up at the Club Cabin, followed by breakfast before loading the lift.
- Fitness and Video at the Club Cabin after Race Days are complete. Team Meeting between Fitness and video.
- Ski tuning assistance for anyone interested in the Club Ski Room following video.
There will most likely be a few adjustments to be made once the schedule for the days is confirmed, but in the meantime, we’ll test it out this coming weekend during training. Please check TeamPages for details on when to be where and how it will all work. Looking forward to getting the whole, giant gang together again!
Calendar Update – 18/02/2020
There are a few small changes being made to the end-of-season races and travel dates that will be reflected in the latest Calendar Update. The Calendar can be found in the Documents section of our Program TeamPage and will be uploaded by the end of the day. Please have a look and direct any questions to Conrad (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Nationals and Spring Series – Panorama again
As you’ll see in the updated Calendar, our entire end-of-season push takes place in Panorama. We are planning to take a two-tiered approach to trips out and will need the most accurate estimate of Attendance numbers to make it all run smoothly. Our TeamPages Calendar will be updated with both trip options and the best way to help is to MARK YOUR ATTENDANCE on the option you are planning to take advantage of so we can keep the budgeting accurate. Thank you in advance, and if you have any questions, please contact Conrad (email@example.com).
We’ve got a little training left and a lot of competitions squished into only slightly more days. All of the gym work, the miles and miles of freeski, and the constant reminders to flush/eat/hydrate/sleep have been to prepare for the next month. From Sunday afternoon, we’re basically Game-On all the way to the April 6th. This week’s, and the remainder of the season’s, cornerstone Teamship Value is:
Excellence in Effort – Effort to be Focused and Engaged. The majority of the Team has displayed this behavior throughout the season and is well aware of the positive impact it has on any task to which it is applied; the challenge we inevitably face this time of year is keeping it consistent. Now is not the time to take your foot off the gas!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please shoot me a message (firstname.lastname@example.org).
See you all this weekend,
U18/U21 Lead Coach
