O2E Brands Whistler Cup 2020 Update
(Whistler, BC) – In light of rapidly evolving and clearly deteriorating COVID-19 situation and following on today’s recommendation from Alpine Canada to cancel races for the remainder of the ski season, the Whistler Cup Organizing Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Whistler Cup.
Jim McGovern, Chair of Whistler Cup said “The legacy of Whistler Cup is something that all WMSC members, athletes and alumni proudly cherish, so this was an incredibly difficult decision for us, but the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, parents, volunteers, sponsors and our community is our first priority. While the COVID-19 risk in Canada is presently low, we felt there was enough uncertainty surrounding what the COVID-19 situation will be in mid-April that out of prudence we should cancel this year’s event. In addition, the international scope of the event dictated that we make this decision now to allow participants to adjust plans accordingly.”
The O2E Brands Whistler Cup is a truly international U16 & U14 alpine ski racing event with teams from over 20 countries attending each year. Planning is now underway for the 2021 Whistler Cup, and we are pleased to announce that our title sponsor O2E Brands is excited to renew its commitment for 2021.
