Kimberley Speed Update!

Hello Athletes and Parents,

Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year! 2019 is here and that means there are races starting to appear on the horizon again, the first one being Kimberley Speed. As some of you might be aware, Kimberley is the only DH series in the entire country this season which makes it a very popular destination from January 26 to February 6. Finding accommodation for a (potentially) large group is becoming a nightmare the closer we get to departure date, and as a result the resort has asked that we confirm our bookings as soon as possible. We currently have rooms booked for 18 athletes and 3 coaches (our trip maximum) but I would like to be solid on our numbers before paying for these places in the event we need to make changes. Here is what you need to know:

Trip Sign-Up Deadline – January 12, 2019
This is the day full payment is due on our accommodation before losing our spot in line. On the afternoon of the 12th we will be locked in with enough beds for whoever is signed up. We will not be booking additional rooms, nor will we be able to shed any excess. This date is also now our Trip Deadline.

Travel – Flights or Rides
Those of you who have done the drive to Kimberley before know how long it is, so anyone wishing to fly is encouraged to do so. Currently we have 2 club vehicles, a trailer, and a 12 passenger van booked for the trip. Dropping some of these vehicles will bring the cost down considerably, and flying means you have more time for school (saving almost 2 days of your life!). For anyone not wishing to fly there will be room for you to drive out. Our goal is to have the minimum Club vehicles possible on this trip. There is a shuttle service to and from the Cranbrook Airport to Kimberley for bodies, all your gear will be driven out in the trailer.
- Air Canada has flights to Kimberley twice a day, both arriving at very decent hours.
Please let me know, along with your attendance, if you will be flying or driving.

Training at Home – Staff and Numbers
Depending on Final numbers for Kimberley, we may be able to have a coach stay home to run training for athletes staying back. This will also be clearer on the 12th when numbers are finalized, in any event there will still be training during the 2 weekends Kimberley is happening. TeamPages will be updated to reflect this.

Please let me know ASAP if you will be coming to Kimberley, what your travel preference is, and then sign-up on LeagueOne and TeamPages.

Any questions let me know! See you this weekend,
