There was a great turnout of members ranging from the current day to the early days of the club with a strong representation of alumni athletes and parents who enjoyed an evening emceed by club alumni Mike Janyk & Jeff Hume and familiar music to all Whistlerites, The Hairfarmers. As this marks our 50th year we are going to build on this momentum to engage more and more of our alumni and to make a concentrated effort to get the community together again. There were a lot of people at the Gala who had not seen each other for many years, and many more who we are not connecting with. So, one of our goals for this year, is to improve our database and get contact details for the members who were a part of the club before computers, email and mobile telephones.

I hope you have noticed that we have just launched a new website and we will be building in an alumni sign-up feature for those who are no longer involved in the club but would like to hear what is going on.

Our club’s vision of ‘developing champions in life and sport’ still stands strong! We believe that while we celebrate the champions in sport, there are many many champions in life who we need to celebrate more often and engage with. It is the entire community that makes our collective passion possible through our sport, our community and our values.

To all, please remember that if you are no longer part of the program as a racer, parent or volly, you are always welcome at the club cabin and we hope to see you at our social events and races throughout the season.

“It is a huge honour to be recognized with this award from the Canadian Paralympic Committee. I was thrilled to represent Canada at the Games and compete alongside so many amazing athletes.
